• Most of the individuals who will try to recruit you into a patriot group or tax protest group will not address the real financial costs to you. They will only look at what the membership to their group will cost you.
• You will most likely have to pay all of your back taxes.
• You will likely pay an amount equal to your back taxes in interest and penalties.
• If charged criminally you will likely pay attorney fees ($10,000 to $25000 if you plea bargain, and $50,000 to $500,000 if you fight in federal court).
• No criminal charge, will likely have to pay a tax attorney and accountant to help you ($5,000 to $35,000).
• Attorneys must be paid in full up front in Federal criminal defense cases, because they cannot quit the case once they start it.
