You actually have approximately 1 in 2500 chance of winning a criminal tax case in Federal Courts. A small number of people do win but what does that really look like??
Two recent winners who got to skip going to jail for tax issues.
Vernice Kuglin: Pilot who did not file tax returns. She won a criminal case in Memphis, TN. with Larry Becraft as one of her attorneys. However, she lost her job and the IRS proceeded against her in a civil case, and she ended up having to pay back taxes and penalties. She also got to pay for a huge court case. Bottom line she lost out on financial stability, a career, and a comfortable retirement.
Tommy Cryer: Attorney who believes he should not pay income taxes. He won his criminal case in Louisiana with Larry Becraft as his attorney. However, he is retirement age, and spent all of his monetary assets on the fight. His legal practice has been ruined by his criminal indictment and trial. Even though he won his case, he does not recommend people quit filing tax returns!! Its too big a risk.
